Journie Rewards is the free loyalty program at Chevron, Ultramar, Pioneer, Fas Gas and On the Run stations. You earn 1 point per litre of gas and 2 points per $1 in-store. Every 300 points, you pick a reward: 7¢ a litre off a fill-up, $5 off in-store, or 300 Aeroplan points. Pay with a linked CIBC card and you save another 3¢ a litre. Here’s how it works and what your points are worth.
How Journie Rewards works
| You buy | You earn |
|---|---|
| 1 litre of gas or diesel | 1 point |
| $1 in-store, before tax | 2 points |
Points build toward a 300-point cycle. You get a reward at 75 points, another at 150, and your main reward at 300. Choosing the 75- and 150-point rewards doesn’t use up your points. At 300, the counter resets to zero and any extra points carry over into the next cycle.
| At | You get |
|---|---|
| 75 points | A reward from a changing list, such as a free item, an in-store discount or bonus points |
| 150 points | Another reward from the list |
| 300 points | Your choice of 7¢ a litre off your next fill (up to 100 litres), $5 off in-store, or 300 Aeroplan points if your accounts are linked |
You join free with the Journie app or a plastic card, and you need to be a Canadian resident aged 16 or older. At the pump, enter your phone number or swipe your card. You don’t earn points on tobacco, gift cards, prepaid phone cards, bill payments or, in some provinces, alcohol.
Which gas stations take Journie Rewards?
You earn and redeem Journie points at participating stations under these brands, all run by Parkland:
- Chevron
- Ultramar
- Pioneer
- Fas Gas
- On the Run convenience stores
Not every station takes part, and some convenience stores only give points on gas. Journie says there are over 1,200 participating locations. Its store locator and app map show which ones offer points in-store.

What each 300-point reward gives you in a year
| Reward | Each time | A year | Per litre |
|---|
Which 300-point reward should you pick?
| Reward | Worth | Best if |
|---|---|---|
| 7¢ a litre off | Up to $7 (on 100 litres); $3.50 on a 50-litre fill | You fill a big tank or truck in one go |
| $5 off in-store | $5 | You buy snacks, coffee or car washes anyway |
| 300 Aeroplan points | About $4.50 at 1.5¢ a point, our estimate for flights | You collect Aeroplan points for travel |
For most drivers, a 300-point cycle takes about 300 litres of gas, or less if you also shop in-store. If you buy 150 litres a month and $20 in-store, you’d get about 7.6 rewards a year. Picking the $5 in-store reward each time is worth about $38 a year, or about 2¢ a litre. Picking the 7¢ discount on 50-litre fills is worth about $27, or 1.5¢ a litre.
In the app, the 7¢ discount is set to apply to your next fill by default, and you can save it for later. With a plastic card, it applies to your next fill automatically. Either way, a reward you don’t pick and use within 60 days expires. See what Aeroplan points are worth.
Journie Rewards and CIBC
Link an eligible CIBC credit or debit card to your Journie account through CIBC Online or Mobile Banking, then pay with it at participating stations. You save 3¢ a litre at the pump, up to 100 litres per fill, on any grade of gas or diesel. Journie advertises this as “up to 10¢/L”, which adds the 3¢ to the 7¢ reward you get every 300 points.
- You get 75 bonus points when you link a CIBC card.
- Simplii cards don’t qualify. CIBC lists eligible cards in its Journie terms.
- Linking can take up to 2 business days.
At 3¢ a litre, someone buying 150 litres a month saves about $54 a year with a linked CIBC card, more than the Journie rewards themselves.
Journie Rewards and Aeroplan
Link your Aeroplan account and you can take 300 Aeroplan points as your 300-point reward, with the chance of more Aeroplan rewards at 75 and 150 points. You can also spend Aeroplan points at Journie stations:
| Aeroplan points | Get |
|---|---|
| 300 | 7¢ a litre off gas, up to 50 litres |
| 300 | $5 off in-store |
| 1,100 | An Absolutely Everything Carwash |
Using 300 Aeroplan points for 7¢ off 50 litres gets you $3.50, about 1.2¢ a point. That’s less than most Aeroplan flights are worth, so it’s better to keep the points for travel.
Do Journie points expire?
- Rewards expire after 60 days if you don’t pick and use them.
- Points are forfeited after a year with no activity, meaning no points earned and no rewards redeemed, according to the program terms.
- Points are also forfeited when an account is closed, and have no cash value.
One fill-up a year where you scan your card or enter your phone number keeps your account active.
