An Aeroplan point is worth about 1.5¢ on flights, our estimate, but the real value changes with every booking. Air Canada flights are priced by demand, while partner airlines use a fixed chart by distance. So 10,000 points is worth roughly $150 toward a flight, sometimes more and sometimes less. Here’s how to check your own value, how many points common flights take, and a calculator.
How to work out what your Aeroplan points are worth
Take the cash price of the flight, subtract the taxes and fees you’d still pay on the reward, and divide by the points needed.
| Step | Example: one-way economy flight |
|---|---|
| Cash price | $450 |
| Minus taxes and fees on the reward | $450 − $90 = $360 |
| Divided by points needed | $360 ÷ 25,000 points |
| Value per point | 1.44¢ |
These are example numbers. Use the fare you’d actually pay and the taxes shown on your reward booking. The same method works for any program: see cents per point.
What changes the value
- Air Canada flights are priced by demand. Popular dates cost more points, so compare the points price with the cash fare each time.
- Partner airlines use a fixed chart by distance. They give the most value when cash fares are high, such as long-haul business class. A $39 partner booking fee applies per ticket.
- Preferred Pricing: primary Aeroplan credit cardholders often see fewer points on Air Canada flights.
- No carrier surcharges on Air Canada flights. You pay taxes and third-party fees, and you can cover those with points too.

How many Aeroplan points do you need to fly?
Aeroplan’s flight reward chart, updated for bookings from June 1, 2026, shows one-way prices by distance. “Starting at” is the lowest price on Air Canada and select partners. The median is what members typically redeemed.
| One-way trip (distance flown) | Economy starting at | Economy median | Business starting at |
|---|---|---|---|
| Within North America, up to 500 miles (e.g. Toronto–Montreal) | 6,000 | 13,000 | 15,000 |
| Within North America, 501 to 1,500 miles | 10,000 | 15,000 | 20,000 |
| Within North America, 1,501 to 2,750 miles (e.g. Toronto–Vancouver) | 12,500 | 17,000 | 25,000 |
| Within North America, over 2,750 miles | 17,500 | 22,900 | 35,000 |
| North America to Europe, up to 4,000 miles (e.g. Toronto–London) | 32,500 | 40,800 | 60,000 |
| North America to Europe, 4,001 to 6,000 miles | 42,500 | 46,600 | 75,000 |
| North America to Asia-Pacific, up to 5,000 miles (e.g. Vancouver–Tokyo) | 32,500 | 46,800 | 55,000 |
| North America to Asia-Pacific, 5,001 to 7,500 miles | 45,000 | 55,000 | 85,000 |
North America includes Canada, the US, Mexico and the Caribbean. Points are based on the distance actually flown, and other partners can cost more than the “starting at” price. Distances in the examples are approximate. Taxes and fees are extra.
Aeroplan points to dollars
| Aeroplan points | At 1¢ | At 1.5¢ (our estimate) | At 2¢ |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10,000 | $100 | $150 | $200 |
| 25,000 | $250 | $375 | $500 |
| 50,000 | $500 | $750 | $1,000 |
| 100,000 | $1,000 | $1,500 | $2,000 |
At 1.5¢, earning 1 Aeroplan point per $1 is like 1.5% back, compared with 1% on a basic cash back card. If you’d mostly redeem for short economy flights at closer to 1¢, the gap disappears. See cash back vs travel points.
