PC Financial has four Mastercards, and all of them earn PC Optimum points. Three have no annual fee: the PC Mastercard, PC World Mastercard and PC World Elite Mastercard. The fourth, the PC Insiders World Elite Mastercard, costs $120 a year and earns the most. All four earn 10 points per $1 everywhere, which is 1% back. The difference is how much more they earn at Loblaw stores, Shoppers Drug Mart and Esso.

All four cards
| Card | Points a year | Annual fee | Value after fee |
|---|
PC Mastercard: the starter card
The no-fee PC Mastercard earns 10 points per $1 everywhere and 25 per $1 at Shoppers Drug Mart. At Loblaw stores it earns the same 10 points as anywhere else, so it adds less at the grocery store than the higher cards do. It includes purchase assurance for 90 days and doubles the manufacturer’s warranty for up to one extra year.
PC World Mastercard
The World card doubles the Loblaw rate to 20 points per $1 (2%) and earns 35 at Shoppers, still with no annual fee. It has the same purchase assurance and extended warranty as the PC Mastercard, plus priority customer service. Its benefits guide doesn’t list travel insurance.
PC World Elite Mastercard
The World Elite is the best value of the four for most people: 30 points per $1 at Loblaw stores (3%), 45 at Shoppers (4.5%) and no annual fee. It also adds:
- Travel emergency medical insurance up to $1,000,000, for trips of up to 10 days, if you’re under 65.
- Car rental collision and loss damage coverage for rentals of up to 31 days, when you charge the full rental to the card and decline the rental company’s coverage.
- Concierge service and identity theft assistance.
- Purchase assurance for 90 days and an extended warranty of up to one extra year.
PC Financial decides whether you get the World Elite or a lower card when you apply. The benefit guides we read don’t list an income minimum, so check the requirements on PC Financial’s site before you apply.
PC Insiders World Elite Mastercard
The PC Insiders card costs $120 a year and earns the most: 40 points per $1 at Loblaw stores (4%), 50 at Shoppers (5%) and 50 points per litre at Esso and Mobil, rising to 70 once you buy 150 litres in a calendar month. It has the same insurance as the World Elite and up to four extra cards at no cost.
It also includes a PC Express Pass, which PC Financial values at $99.99 a year, for $0 pickup or delivery on PC Express orders of $35 or more. If you’d pay for that pass anyway, the card’s fee is mostly covered.
| You spend a year at Loblaw stores | Extra points vs World Elite | Worth | After the $120 fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| $6,000 | 60,000 | $60 | -$60 |
| $12,000 | 120,000 | $120 | $0 |
| $18,000 | 180,000 | $180 | +$60 |
That counts only Loblaw spending. The Insiders card also earns 5 more points per $1 at Shoppers and at least 20 more per litre at Esso and Mobil, so heavy Shoppers or fuel spending lowers the break-even. Use the calculator above with your own numbers.
