No. PC Optimum points don’t expire. But PC Optimum can close your account without notice if you go 2 years without earning or redeeming any points. Its terms also mention not having an open PC Financial card registered to your account. Here’s how the rule works, what counts as activity and what to do if your account was closed.
The 2-year rule
PC Optimum’s program terms say points don’t expire. They also say PC Optimum reserves the right to close your account without notice if you don’t earn or redeem any points at least once every 2 years, don’t have an open PC Financial payment product registered to your account, or for any other reason listed in the terms.
Our reading: the 2-year rule is the one that matters for most people. If you have an open PC Financial card linked to your account, you’re earning points on every purchase anyway, so you won’t go 2 years without activity. PC Financial’s own help page puts it simply: points don’t expire, but your account can be closed if you don’t earn or spend points at least once every 2 years.

If your account was closed
PC Optimum’s terms say you can contact PC Optimum to ask for the value of your points to be reinstated, as of the day your account was closed, in a new account in your name. The terms don’t set a time limit for asking, so contact PC Optimum as soon as you notice.
Other ways points can be lost
- Points earned against the rules can be cancelled and removed from your account.
- Points can’t be assigned, exchanged, sold, traded or given as a gift. They’re void if sold for cash.
- PC Optimum can end the program, or part of it, with 45 days’ written notice. It can also change the minimum redemption or redemption steps.
Using your points
You redeem in steps of 10,000 points, and each step takes $10 off at participating stores, up to $500 in one transaction. A balance of 47,500 points gets you $40 off, with 7,500 points left for next time. Step-by-step instructions are in our guide to redeeming PC Optimum points.
